The journey of Pilates is one of constant evolution, growth, and impact. As a practitioner and teacher, I've witnessed firsthand how this incredible method continues to transform lives. With over two decades of experience, I feel an immense responsibility to provide the best possible experience to my clients, while also fostering an environment of positivity, respect, and continuous learning.
In a field as diverse as Pilates, it's easy to get caught up in debates over which approach or method is superior. But I've learned that true growth comes not from claiming to be the best or denigrating others, but from embracing the richness of our collective knowledge. Every teacher, every method has its place and value, and we can all learn from each other.
My commitment to fostering positivity extends to how I approach teaching and mentoring up-and-coming Pilates instructors. I believe that the journey of a Pilates teacher is one of ongoing discovery, and it’s my privilege to help guide those just starting out. There is something truly rewarding in supporting others as they find their path, and I strive to be a source of encouragement and guidance, just as others were for me when I was beginning.
Continuous learning is at the heart of my practice. Despite my years of experience, I remain a student at heart, always seeking out new training, attending workshops, and learning from my peers. The beauty of Pilates lies in its depth, and there's always something new to discover. This commitment to learning ensures that I can offer my clients the most effective and thoughtful instruction, rooted in both tradition and innovation.
I don’t claim that my approach to Pilates is the best or the only way. In fact, I believe that the idea of "pure" classical Pilates passed with Joseph Pilates himself in 1967. But while the man is no longer with us, his legacy endures in the principles, the spirit, and the system he created. As a teacher, my goal is to honor that legacy by teaching the system as it was intended, while also acknowledging that the practice must evolve to meet the needs of each individual.
Looking back, I take pride in knowing that I've contributed to the Pilates community in my own way. I've had the honor of helping clients achieve their goals, and of guiding teachers from all over the world as they begin their own journeys. This sense of contribution is not about claiming superiority, but about being part of something greater than myself—a global community dedicated to health, wellness, and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in Pilates.
In the end, Pilates is about more than just the exercises—it's about connection, growth, and the shared journey of learning. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner, a new teacher, or someone just starting out, remember that we are all part of a vibrant community, each contributing in our own way. Together, we can continue to honor the legacy of Joseph Pilates, while embracing the endless possibilities of the journey ahead.
